Bachelor project · Android & web rebuild Rendered preview of the rebuilt Reading Stations Explorer catalogue with sample books and station filters

CVGC Reading Stations Explorer

A campus reading catalogue, rebuilt from my bachelor thesis into a shared Android and web application. Discover materials across stations, save favourites, and help maintain the collection.

FlutterDartFirebaseAndroid + web
The original challenge

Help students find reading materials before visiting individual stations at Comilla Victoria Government College.

From thesis to portfolio

The original bachelor project was completed at UTHM. This later, AI-assisted rebuild adds a responsive interface, a shared Android/web codebase, search and station filters, a favourites shelf, material requests, missing-material reports, and administration.

Engineering improvements

Separate UI, state, and backend layers; a sample-data demo; private user profiles; server-enforced administrator access; behaviour tests; and database-security tests. The source repository includes setup instructions, a changelog, and a development roadmap.

The image is a rendered preview of the rebuild, using fictional catalogue data. Firebase integration requires a separate configured project. No current college deployment or new acceptance-study results are claimed.

MBH Lab Management

From paper inspections to a clear equipment workspace. Track laboratories, find assets, review readiness, and follow preventive maintenance across Android and web.

The original work

As sole developer during my 2023 ICT placement, I worked with staff and technicians on a preventive-maintenance application for computer labs.

The 2026 rebuild

A responsive overview, searchable equipment inventory, lab readiness, service queues, and an inspection timeline. Nine preventive checks cover software, peripherals, storage, network, physical cleanliness and power.

Access by design

The public demo is read only and uses fictional records. The prepared private backend supports provisioned staff accounts, administrator-only writes, atomic inspection updates, and append-only inspection history. It requires separate Firebase setup; no live institutional backend is claimed.

The original app included barcode and photo features. The rebuild currently supports manual asset-tag lookup; camera scanning and photo uploads are not implemented. The interface shown is a rendered preview, not a physical-device test.

How do we find
what we really mean?

MSc Information Technology
UTHM · 2024–present

Exploring information retrieval through language, meaning, and learning.

My master’s research brings together information retrieval and natural language processing. I’m currently working on neural networks versus WordNet, and developing my practical experience in machine learning and deep learning.

Ongoing research
01

Information retrieval & NLP

My core research area: how language and meaning relate to finding relevant information.

02

Neural networks versus WordNet

My current focus compares neural approaches with WordNet, a structured lexical resource. This work is ongoing; results will be shared when ready.

03

Machine learning & deep learning

Current areas of hands-on work and learning, alongside dataset preparation and research experiments.

Good software starts with understanding the problem. My work brings together hands-on application development and curiosity about how people find and use information.

I’m a Flutter developer and Graduate Research Assistant at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, pursuing an MSc in Information Technology with research in information retrieval and natural language processing. My current focus is neural networks versus WordNet, alongside hands-on work in machine learning and deep learning.
